How To Use GeoTactics Dice Roller
v.1.0.2
Simple vs Complex Mode
Simple Mode is best for phones, tablets, touchscreens, and any device where moving a mouse around is awkward or unavailable. It is ready to roll immediately and mixes the browser cryptographic random source with timing and device/session details.
Complex Mode keeps the original mouse-movement entropy feature for desktop users. Move the mouse across the open roller area to charge the entropy bar, then roll once the bar is full.
Basic Roll
- Select how many dice you want to roll.
- Select the die type: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, or d100.
- Choose Simple Mode for phones/tablets or Complex Mode for mouse-movement entropy.
- In Simple Mode, click Roll or press Space immediately. In Complex Mode, move your mouse across the open roller area to charge the entropy bar first.
Randomness Modes
Simple Mode is designed for phones and tablets. It mixes the browser cryptographic random source with the system clock, high-resolution performance timing, screen data, and the selected dice settings.
Complex Mode samples pointer position, movement distance, timing, and screen data while you move across the roller area. Movement over the controls does not charge the bar, so wider movement across the open area gives better input.
Random Results
Each roll uses the browser's cryptographic random source. In Complex Mode it also mixes in movement data. When rolling multiple dice, one base random pool is used, then each die gets its own derived random stream.
Keyboard Shortcut
Press Space to roll. In Simple Mode it works immediately. In Complex Mode it works once the entropy bar is full.
Roll History
Recent rolls appear at the bottom of the roller. Multi-dice rolls show individual results and the total.
